has completed several training courses through Empire Medical training and Allergen. Botox and dermal fillers are used to smooth and fill in your face for a more youthful appearance. It has also been shown to help pain, such as headaches, caused by temporomandibular joint (TMJ).
What is BOTOX® ?
BOTOX®
is an injection that can only be administered by a trained healthcare professional. BOTOX®
has a special protein that blocks overactive nerve impulses that causes muscles to contract. Injecting BOTOX®
into the muscle help relax the nerve impulse and therefor relaxes the muscle. BOTOX®
is temporary and can last one to six months.
What is Bruxism?
Bruxism
is the abnormal condition of constant grinding or clenching of a person’s teeth. An average person’s teeth touch together approximately 4 minutes a day usually while chewing food. Someone with Bruxism’s teeth will touch together approximately 6-8 hours a day. The most common time that a person with Bruxism will clench or grind their teeth is at night time, but it is not uncommon for this to happen during the day as well. If someone with Bruxism does not receive treatment it can result in extreme wearing of the teeth that could even lead to the loss of teeth. With no treatment a person might develop pain and/or inadequate chewing. Causes of Bruxism include stress, sleeping disorders, teeth alignment issues, neurological disorders, and reactions to medications. BOTOX®
helps to relax the masseter muscle which causes Bruxism. Relaxing this muscle helps stop the involuntary grinding of teeth and helps in the alleviation of pain caused by Bruxism.
What are Dermal Fillers used for?
Dermal fillers such as Juvederm are injections performed by a train professional that are commonly used to add volume to the face and lips. Dermal fillers are commonly used by dentist for lip augmentation. The injections are done under the skin to help plump the lip for a fuller look. This is done for vertical lines above the lip, uneven lips, to make the area around your mouth youthful, and to correct downturned corners of the mouth. Dermal fillers are not only used for the lip but the face as well. Over time collagen is lost and facial areas start to deepen for a more “sunk in” look. Dermal fillers help give a fuller youthful look!
